Welcome to our Convention Website.
Betty's Bay is a picturesque seaside village in the Overberg region of the Western Cape. It is also the birth place of the Annual Miniatures Convention. A combination of miniatures, like-minded people and lovely scenery .................
Life can't get much better than this.
The Annual Miniatures Convention was the brainchild of Isa Lindstrom, who lives in Betty’s Bay, and Sue Farmer from Cape Town. Both are members of the Cape Town Miniaturia Guild. The idea was to involve miniaturists from all over South Africa. They found the perfect venue, the "Bettysbaai Oord" in Betty's Bay, which had accommodation as well as a hall for the workshops.
It was decided to combine the convention with the Annual Miniatures Auction in Somerset West, to make the trip worthwhile for people traveling to the Cape, from other regions. Isa and Sue got together, booked workshop teachers, organised the catering, accepted bookings, and so the Convention was born.
The convention in March 2010 wassuch a huge success, that it was decided to make it an annual event.
The 2012 Convention (our third) will be held from Sunday, 25 March to Wednesday, 28 March in Betty's Bay. The Miniatures Auction will be held on 24 March in Somerset West. The Convention, as well as the Miniatures Auction, will be held under the auspices of the Miniaturia Guild of Cape Town.
We hope you enjoy your visit to the Convention website. Pictures and details of the 2012 workshops will be posted as soon as its available.
